Italian Republic Day Celebration – June 1, 2025

This morning, Sunday, June 1st, during the 9:30 AM Mass, our parish joyfully gathered to celebrate La Festa della Repubblica Italiana—Italian Republic Day.

The Festa della Repubblica is one of Italy’s most significant national holidays, commemorating the birth of the Italian Republic on June 2, 1946. On that historic day, following the devastation of World War II, the Italian people were called to vote in a national referendum to determine their form of government. The majority voted in favor of a republic, officially ending the monarchy and ushering in a new era of democracy, hope, and civic renewal.

During this morning’s Mass, we offered prayers of thanksgiving for the Italian people, both in Italy and throughout the world. We reflected on the values of freedom, justice, unity, and peace—principles that continue to guide democratic societies and faithful communities alike. For many of our parishioners, particularly those of Italian heritage, this day holds deep personal meaning, connecting generations through memory, culture, and faith.

Our celebration was both a moment of remembrance and a joyful expression of cultural pride, rooted in our shared faith and commitment to community. We are grateful to all who joined us in prayer, especially those who carry on the beautiful Italian traditions within our parish.
